Pet Calming
This time of year is always popular for the pet calming formulas in Mountain Naturals and Pet Naturals. I was reminded how handy they are over this July 4th weekend.
My older cat is terrified of just about everything. Between the fireworks and thunderstorms in the forecast, he was bound to have a pretty rough weekend. Luckily I had a good supply of Calming for Cats Soft Chews on hand. I gave him a triple dose (it is a very safe formula, so dosing is flexible depending on the level of stress) about 45 minutes before the first round of fireworks were scheduled to begin. Within 15 minutes he was very relaxed next to me on the couch. Once the fireworks started, he did jump down and run to a few windows to check out the situation, but then returned to his spot on the couch. No hiding under the bed, no high-pitch cries of concern, no "accidents" outside the litterbox. Success!
The Mountain Naturals Tranquil Aid Liquid is also great. In my experience it seems to kick in slightly faster, so it is perfect for those situations when the animal is already stressed -- like when I walked in the door on Saturday evening in the midst of a full-blown thunderstorm. Once I located the cat in question (terrified and hiding under the couch), I squirted about a teaspoon of the liquid into his mouth. Within about 10 minutes he was brave enough to stick his head out from under the couch, and several minutes later he was requesting dinner like nothing had happened.
Tranquil Aid Liquid works for dogs as well, and dogs also get their own soft chews as well -- Calming for Large Dogs.
The world can be a tough place for pets -- fireworks, thunderstorms, traveling, vet visits, trips to the groomer... Help smooth out the little disasters in their life.
