Power of Perna

Now it may seem like a bit of a leap that seafood is good for your joints. However Perna happens to be full of joint supportive nutrients.

New Zealand Green-Lipped Mussel, also known as Perna Canaliculus, is the primary nutrient in our popular Green Mussel and Green Mussel Plus joint support formulas.

It is generally known that Chondroitin Sulfates and Glucosamine are great for joint support. A good analogy is that it is like a big bowl of lettuce and tomatoes. Certainly it is a great, healthy choice. However that only provides two sources of joint supportive nutrients.

Perna, on the other hand, contains over 50 nutrients. Imagine it as a chef's salad with lettuce, some spinach, tomatoes, carrots, chicken, and cheese. It is a rich source of a variety of nutrients that are needed in the joints and beyond. Sure, Perna contains Chondroitin Sulfates, and our Green Mussel Plus kicks in the added benefits of Glucosamine. But Perna also contains Hyaluronic Acid, 13 different fatty acids (including essential fatty acids), over 20 amino acids, and over a dozen minerals.

Researchers initial investigated Perna for use in cancer patients in the 1960's. Unfortunately it doesn't have any effect on cancer, but the patients who also had arthritis reported that their joints felt much better while taking Perna.

It wasn't long before FoodScience Corporation decided to include Perna in our line. Green Mussel has been a long-standing and extremely popular product. We then decided to kick the formula up a notch with added Glucosamine, MSM, and DMG, and introduced Green Mussel Plus.
Our sister company, Vetri-Science Laboratories offers the product in tasty, chewable versions for dogs and cats, known as Glyco-Flex.

Think about giving your joints a bit of Perna power.

To happy joints,
